September is a breath of fresh air. We're finishing up the last of the kind of heat that makes it almost impossible to be outside. A simple walk down the block requires a shower and a bottle of water in August, and I start getting fidgety after being indoors too long. September is a much-needed transition. By the middle of the month, the nights are cooler. Three-quarters of the way in, my favorite season arrives...fall. That means longer walks with the dogs, sitting outside to write, and lots of evenings curled up with a good book. After another hot summer, bring it!
